Biography
Dr. Robert Forrey is a Distinguished Professor of Physics at Penn State Berks. Prior to joining Penn State in 1999, Dr. Forrey was a Research Associate at Harvard University. He has held research positions at the Institute for Theoretical Atomic and Molecular Physics and the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory.
Dr. Forrey was elected a Fellow of the American Physical Society (APS) in 2011 and received the APS 2019 Prize for a Faculty Member for Research in an Undergraduate Institution. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles on a variety of topics in physics, chemistry, and astrophysics and given numerous invited talks at international and national professional meetings. His research has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, the Smithsonian Institution, Air Products, Inc., and NASA.
In January 2020, Dr. Forrey was appointed Director of Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Theory in the Division of Physics at NSF.
